The Academic Director

Most likely, you have been in touch with the Academic Director of the program already, as he or she reached out to you for taking over a teaching slot in the program. The Academic Directors are responsible for all academic affairs regarding the program. Next to selecting and working with the students, they check your syllabus, consult with you in quality affairs, student issues, content updates etc.  In certain situations, the Academic Director would also consult with the Dean for advice/decision.

The Program Manager

The program manager is the first point of contact for you. Assigned to a program, the program manager coordinates students, academics and connects all internal service units with the different stakeholders. For you, the program manager accompanies you along your teaching journey, making sure that all information reaches the right people in the organization and also the students to make the teaching journey as productive as possible. Any question/request you might have to start out with, the program manager can be your first point of contact. Nevertheless, always bear in mind that your educational voyage is a collaborative effort shaped by numerous individuals within the organization, including the Teaching Support Team, travel coordinators, and the Academic Office & Event Team. Their shared goal is to craft an unparalleled experience. However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that their ability to achieve this hinges upon your timely and comprehensive provision of information!

The Academic Office Team

The Service Center Team makes sure that your syllabus, once the Academic Director has approved it and the Program Manager has forwarded it, is implemented in our Learning Management System Moodle. They are experts in setting up the Moodle site, but also make sure that you receive the completed pre- and post-module assignments along with the grading sheets. Shifting material in line with the timeline helps them tremendously to support you well on operational matters.

The Event Team

The Event Team takes over logistics in and around the lecture room, e.g., catering, room set-up etc. In the syllabus, in the communication with the program manager etc. you have plenty of opportunities to raise your demands. The more timely you are, the better we can adjust to your requirements or inform you early on what is possible and what not.

The Teaching Support Team

The Teaching Support Team is here to facilitate your teaching in the classroom – be it fully on-campus, hybrid or online. They are experts not only in the specific technical set-up of each of our lecture theatres, but also in providing didactic support for whatever set-up you choose. In preparation for your course, they will contact you with a questionnaire to assess your needs AND they will arrange a meeting with you to go through your requirements – take this opportunity to consult with the Teaching Support Team. This makes our lives easier, but more importantly it ensures that your classroom teaching will be seamless.

The IT & e-academy Team

The IT & e-Academy Team is responsible for our IT systems and for our learning platform. While most of the teams listed above handle your requests on a daily basis. The IT & e-academy team is here to consult for special cases you require in your teaching set-up. If their support is needed, WU EA colleagues will reach out to them and connect you.

The Accounting Team

Making sure that you receive your teaching remuneration, the Accounting team is working on your contract and the payment. Again, while a lot of that is routine, you might be in a special situation or have special requests, then the program manager reaches out to the Accounting Team (see also: Remuneration & Tax issues)
