Classroom Settings in a Nutshell
In the following, we provide you with a comparison how to look at key teaching situations in the different teaching situations:

Breakout Session Settings: Duration and Group Formation can be set. Participants require clear instructions on what to do in the breakout sessions – possibly by sending an additional instructional message in the meeting chat. |
| Participation in class | Special attention to remote participating students: How do you plan on including them during the course? Acknowledge the difficulty of remote participating students to participate in class. Ask for information about the students participating remotely beforehand. Do they have experience in participating remotely? Is it their first time? Connect by appreciating their experience and encourage participating if it is their first time. |
State your expectations and class rules: How will you see whether a student wants to say something? Will you monitor the chat? Should students raise their hand in class? Can students interrupt you during the lecture? Use polls and quizzes to engage students that are camera shy. Flipped Classroom – concept: In a flipped classroom, students spend time at home or away from a physical classroom to learn at their own pace. Once that’s done, the class will meet in person to talk with their teacher, ask questions and complete their homework based on the material they learned online. |
